What are spiritual gifts?
Spiritual gifts are God-given abilities distributed by the Holy Spirit to every believer at salvation. They are not talents, not personality traits, and not achievements. They are supernatural endowments designed to build the local church and glorify Jesus Christ. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 12:7 — the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. Every believer has at least one. No believer has all of them.
How do I find my spiritual gifts?
Three ways. First, take the GBG Spiritual Gifts Survey — 100 questions drawn directly from Scripture that reveal your consistent gift patterns. Second, pay attention to what God has been doing through you consistently over time — not what you enjoy, but what produces fruit. Third, ask trusted believers who know how God uses you. Your gifts are usually more visible to others than to yourself.
Can a person have more than one gift?
Yes. Scripture shows believers operating in multiple gifts. Paul demonstrated Apostle, Teaching, Knowledge, Wisdom, Faith, and Giving across his ministry. Most believers have one or two primary gifts and several supporting gifts. The survey helps identify which are dominant.
What gifts clash?
Administration and Faith clash most visibly — Administration wants a plan before moving, Faith wants to move before the plan is finished. Discernment and Mercy clash in how they see people — Discernment sees the problem, Mercy sees the person. Exhortation and Teaching clash on pace — Exhortation wants action now, Teaching wants understanding first. None of these are sin. They are design differences that require maturity to navigate.
What happens when gifts are misused?
Administration misused becomes control. Discernment misused becomes cynicism. Exhortation misused becomes manipulation. Mercy misused becomes enabling. Faith misused becomes presumption. Every gift has a flesh-driven version that looks similar to the Spirit-driven original but produces completely different fruit. The difference is always the motive and the source.

Why do some members never volunteer?
Because they are waiting to be asked for the right thing. A Knowledge person will not naturally step up to serve tables — but ask them to teach a Bible study and they will prepare for weeks. A Service person will not step up to lead a committee — but they see the folding chairs need to be set up before anyone else notices. Volunteerism assumes everyone serves the same way. Gift-based ministry assumes everyone serves differently.
Why does the same person cause problems in every church they join?
Usually because their gift has never been identified, released, or properly placed. A strong Administration gift without an outlet will reorganize whatever is available — including things that do not need reorganizing. A strong Discernment gift without guidance will question everything and everyone. The problem is not the person. The problem is a gift operating without direction, accountability, or understanding.
Why do some members always want more details in every business meeting?
That is a Teaching, Knowledge, or Discernment gift doing exactly what it was designed to do. These gifts cannot move forward without sufficient information. To everyone else it looks like obstruction. To the gifted person, moving without full information feels irresponsible. The solution is not to silence them — it is to give them a role where their thoroughness is an asset rather than a disruption.
Why can’t we all just get along?
Because God did not design the church to be a room full of identical people. He designed it to be a Body — with different parts, different functions, and different needs. When an Exhortation gift and a Teaching gift disagree on pace, that is not conflict — that is tension by design. The question is not how to eliminate the tension but how to steward it toward the goals God has set for the church.
What happens when a Pastor starts leading by Gift Based?
The church changes — slowly, then noticeably. Members stop being recruited for slots and start being placed according to design. Burnout decreases because people are doing what God equipped them to do. Conflict decreases because gift differences are understood rather than judged. Giving increases because people are invested in a ministry they can see themselves in. It does not happen overnight. But it happens. The GBG module gives a Pastor the tools to start that process.

Why does my Pastor seem burned out?
Because the Pastor / Teacher gift is a dual office — shepherd and instructor combined. If the church also expects the Pastor to administrate, counsel, evangelize, serve on every committee, and manage the building, he is operating in roles that belong to other gifts. Burnout is not a spiritual failure. It is what happens when one person carries the load that eighteen gifts were designed to share.
Why do some members derail every business meeting?
A room full of Administration, Discernment, and Faith gifts without clear leadership will pull in three directions at once. Administration wants a process. Discernment wants to examine the proposal. Faith wants to move without a proposal. Add an Exhortation gift trying to motivate everyone and a Mercy gift worried about who might be hurt by the decision — and the meeting never ends. Gift-based leadership gives each voice its proper place and weight.
Why is our church close to splitting?
Most church splits trace back to gift misalignment that was never addressed. A strong Faith gift pushing the church into a new direction collides with a strong Administration gift that sees no plan. A Discernment gift that has identified a real problem finds no one willing to act. An Exhortation gift that has been silenced starts finding an audience outside the building. The split is rarely about the issue on the surface. It is almost always about gifts that were never understood, never released, and never resolved.
Why does my church fight so much?
A church full of gifts operating without understanding will always produce conflict. Not sin — misalignment. When a Mercy gift and a Discernment gift disagree about a person in the congregation, both are right from their gift perspective. When an Administration gift and a Faith gift disagree about direction, both are operating from design. The fight is not the problem. The lack of understanding is the problem. The GBG module gives the church a language for what is already happening.
How does a Gift Based Church act?
Every member knows their gift. Every role is filled by the right gift. The Pastor teaches and shepherds — not because no one else will, but because that is his design. The Service gift maintains the building without being asked. The Giving gift meets financial needs quietly. The Exhortation gift keeps discouraged members from quitting. The Discernment gift protects the Body from deception. The Administration gift keeps everything moving toward God’s goals. No one is burned out. No one is overlooked. No one is in the wrong seat.
