The Spiritual Gift of Knowledge
Service Gift — 1 Corinthians 12:8
γνώσεως (gno’-se-os) — applied knowledge — connecting theory to application. From γινώσκω — to know by experience. This is experiential knowledge, not mere information. Knowledge is a concept gift. God uses it to highlight the depth of His Word. It stands in direct contrast to Gnosticism — true knowledge comes through relationship with God, not hidden systems.

Knowledge as Named
Jesus gave His disciples the ability to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven (MAT 13:11). Paul came to know sin through the law (ROM 7:7). Pastors are given knowledge and understanding to feed the flock (JER 3:15). The gift operates most powerfully in active fellowship with God.
Knowledge as Ministry
The gift of Knowledge unlocks the depth of Scripture for the Body. It connects distant passages, reveals hidden themes, and gives the church a completed picture of what God is saying. It serves the Teacher, the Pastor, and the whole assembly.
Serving in Knowledge
Avoid twisting Scripture to support manmade ideas. Avoid seeking wisdom from uninspired sources. Avoid claiming that all of your thoughts are from God. Knowledge puffeth up — charity edifieth (1CO 8:1).
