The Spiritual Gift of Faith
Service Gift — 1 Corinthians 12:9
πίστις (pis’-tis) — God’s divine persuasion — firm conviction, trust, solid assurance without question. Faith appears over 240 times in the New Testament — the most used abstract noun in the Greek New Testament. As a gift, it goes beyond saving faith — it is a visionary, mountain-moving trust that rests entirely in God’s ability, not the believer’s.
Faith as Defined

Faith is a visionary gift. God uses it to tell believers to rest in Him while they are used to accomplish His goals.
Faith as Named
Jesus marvelled at the centurion’s faith — I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel (MAT 8:10). Blind Bartimaeus received his sight through faith (MAR 10:52). Paul lists faith as a fruit of the Spirit (GAL 5:22-23) — evidence that the gift flows from the Spirit’s work, not human effort.
Faith as Ministry
The believer with the gift of Faith steps out when others hold back. They claim promises when circumstances look impossible. They give the Body courage to move in the direction God has already prepared.
Serving in Faith
Avoid trying to meet all needs with your own resources. Avoid becoming a name-it-and-claim-it advocate. Avoid heaping condemnation on those who are weaker in faith. The gift is to strengthen the Body — not to shame it.
